Neck pain

Studies estimate that neck pain has a one year incidence rate of 10.4 - 21.3% of the population in Australia (Hoy, Protani, Buckbinder, 2010).

Often, people present to physiotherapy with neck pain or tightness. Common sources of pain include spinal discs, joints, nerves, or local muscle tissue such as the upper trapezius or scalene muscles.

Neck pain is often complex and requires an in depth assessment by an AHPRA registered health professional to determine the cause of the issue. At times neck pain can result from more sinister pathologies however thorough assessments allow for these issues to be found and passed on to more specialised medical care.

In many cases, neck pain responds well to traditional hands on physiotherapy techniques such as soft tissue massage, joint mobilisation techniques, dry needling, and gentle exercise programming.
